As I sit down to write this email, it is 7:00 pm my time on Thanksgiving night. My stomach is full of turkey, rolls, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, and I am preparing for round two! Before I stuff my face with more Thanksgiving deliciousness, I wanted to take a moment and share with you just a few of the things I am thankful for this year.
Around 19 college students who were destined to go to hell have decided to follow God since our new team arrived in August!
Two new fellowships that did not exist before August have been meeting regularly and we are praying for more growth daily!
God has been answering our prayers as we come together to lift up other cities, our team mates and our Asian friends. One fun example of that occurred a few weeks ago during one of our fellowships. I was praying at the end of the meeting that God would bless everyone and that they would make it home safely, especially the guys who had to travel over an hour by bus to make it to the meeting location. While praying, I felt led to ask that not only would these guys get on a bus without having to wait very long, but that they would also find seats. Now, the bus they had to take is normally pretty packed, especially on a Sunday night, so this was no small request! A few days passed, and I heard nothing more of it. A few days later, these same guys went to meet Professor and Sherlock. They came running up to them saying “McDoogle prayed for us the other night at the fellowship that we would get seats on the bus ride home and WE GOT THEM!!!”
We had two awesome Thanksgiving parties this past weekend that around 60 college students attended! At the party we played games, ate tons of food, shared a skit about God, and broke up into groups to share with people individually about God or follow-up with those who heard before. Although no one joined the family, we are expectant that many will join in the coming days and weeks as we continue to follow up with them.
These are just some of a few of the amazing things God has been doing in the city so far this year! So before you all dive into the bird this year, take a moment to think about what you are thankful for. I am sure you will find that there is a lot!
Happy Thanksgiving!
