Several evenings ago, I was reminded of a not-so-pleasant fact about myself: I have never developed the discipline to go to bed when I’m not exhausted. I had gotten so much sleep in the previous days that 11:30pm rolled around and I still wasn’t tired. I should have just gone to bed so I would still be rested the next day, but I didn’t. I almost started studying language, but I at least had the sense to know that was crazy. I listened to some music, got ready for language teaching the next day, and did a few other small things that stretched out the time. Finally I closed my eyes about 1:30 in the morning.
The good news was that for the first time in quite a while, I had been rested enough to realize I need to learn how to go to bed when I’m not exhausted. December had been a busy month (I bet I’m not the only one who thought that, eh?), so we’ve been taking it slow the last week. Nevertheless, along the way we’ve had some cool things happen. Last weekend Dove and I had a wonderful conversation with Bob, a guy on our school’s new campus who loves to share about God and is fast becoming a leader there. He is fun to talk to and hungry to know God and how to be a leader for him. Also, several days ago Vash and I had a chance to reconnect with Broddy, who had been really distant recently. Our talk went well, and tonight he’s coming over for dinner again.
