I said a quick prayer, picked up my guitar, and began to play. Lebron started to lead our fellowship in song as my shaking hands calmed against the strings. Shifting my eyes from the music to the people, the Holy Spirit filled my heart with joy: twenty five people in the chilly living room at the family party were joined in worship to the King. Between songs, some friends prayed out in their own language, some in English, and I continued a silent petition for salvation.
Earlier that week, Mae and I shared the entire Gospel message with our friend Annie over tea at the café on campus. As we told her about God’s love and forgiveness, her face lit up and she began speaking out in agreement and excitement. I told her that she can begin her relationship with God anytime and invited her to come to the family church with us. Happily, Annie called us early Sunday morning to tell us that she wanted come.
After our time of worship ended, Annie excitedly shuffled towards me. “I think,” she said, “this is exactly what I want. I know that God loves me and I know that he wants to give me a bigger heart.” I gently asked her, “Do you think you’re ready?” And while smiling, she nodded her head.
“Do you want to become a Christian right now?”
Annie said yes! One of our friends, Ivy, led her in prayer, and we celebrated for the rest of the night. The following week we baptized her in the bathtub in our apartment and also prayed for the baptism of the Holy Spirit…and she received the gift of tongues!
I am so happy to tell you about our new sister. Thank you so much for joining us in prayer! This is just the tip of the ice berg. We’ve been investing and planting a lot of seeds, and God’s Word never comes back void.
Since Christmas is a natural time to share the Gospel message, please ask the Lord to use us in powerful ways during this season. Believe with me for our friend’s salvations. It’s happening! =)
