When I arrived here, I met with my Language Leader, who is helping me figure out how, what, and where I will study, since my first task here is to become fluent in the language. I accidentally signed up to have a language partner (I wanted a tutor, not a language partner), but God had a plan! When I met with this girl, Ruyi, she was very interested in what I had to say about what I believe. The second time we met, I shared the Good News with her, and she believed! She is now my little sister! I hope to start teaching her more about God soon. So even though my focus is supposed to be language, God still wants me to have my eyes open for opportunities to advance His kingdom!
Thank you all so much for praying for me. I had a rough start including a fever, homesickness, and culture shock, but things are going much better now. I am pretty much moved into my apartment – I still need to hang a mirror and some paintings, and I’m waiting on a shelf, but this apartment is becoming my home.
Finally, right now, we have a retreat/conference in my city for the long-term workers from all of our cities. So far, we’ve heard from a couple from Bethel and learned a lot about the Holy Spirit and our identity in Christ, and are praying to see God work miracles here. We’ve also had some time to strategize among ourselves, talk about the vision we have for this country, and talk about how exactly we want to accomplish what God has for us here. It’s been a great time to see the other long-termers I haven’t seen in years, and it’s generally a very encouraging time to hear from God!
Please be praying for:
- My intense language studying starts on June 1st; please pray that God would help me study diligently and learn quickly.
- My new sister’s name is Ruyi; please pray that God would give me wisdom in how to train her!
