You never know how many people you can fit in a room until a Thanksgiving Party forces you to test the limits of your apartment’s living room.
Many of you remember a few weeks ago when I wrote explaining the difficulties we had in planning a Thanksgiving Party for our friends at the Medical University. Well finally, two days before Thanksgiving, the day for the party had come. We had no idea how many people would be there, especially because one of my friends had recently called me saying that they weren’t sure if many people could come to the party because of exams. But we stood our ground and were determined to have the party, no matter what.
As I sat in my living room waiting for friends to arrive, I had no idea what was about to happen. Before I knew it, laughing and smiling medical students came pouring up the stairwell and into our apartment. In less than 5 minutes, our modest living room was filled to capacity with over 25 students!! The next few hours passed quickly as we played games, sang songs, and shared the real story of Thanksgiving.
At the end of the night, I stood in the middle of my disheveled living room staring at my team mates saying “did that just happen???” God was SOOO faithful! He blessed our party beyond measure and came through in a way that none of us could have expected. Thanks to the Lord, we now have a foothold on the Med. campus and have so many opportunities to meet with new people and share with them.
Keep asking the Lord that he would provide new friendships for me on this campus and that we would have more chances to share, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
