Friends,
I’m so excited about what our man upstairs is doing here! Hope this letter finds you hale and hearty. I have only another month of work here and it will be time for me to go back ‘home’.
I want to tell you about my friend, Q. He is the Founder/CEO of an English teaching company for college students. I have had the opportunity of teaching at his institute. It’s been such a joy getting to meet with him and get to know him, his wife, and friends. He loves basketball, so I get to play with him often. I have built a strong relationship with him the past couple of months. To be honest, it was a bit intimidating to talk to him about God, but guess what happened recently! I was meeting with him to help with some stuff and after that was over I was doing some work. I was listening to talks, Q walked up to me and peeked into my computer, curious with what I was doing. I was taken aback and quite nervous because I recently found out that his wife was part of the National party. But he proceeded to ask me questions and asked if he could have the resources — a perfect segway for me to talk to him about God. We sat there and talked for a couple of hours. He’s on the fence and hasn’t made a decision yet, but is seeking. He keeps telling me he is too busy with life and work to think about stuff like this.
Going off the tangent, my time here is coming to an end and I need to make some decisions. I’m taking a couple days of personal retreat this week to process a few things. During my time here, I’ve come across quite a few challenges, and God has grown me a lot through them. One of my latest struggles has been with differing perspectives between east and west. As an Easterner, I see things from a different perspective than many missionaries from the West. Through that, I feel like I’ve developed some bitterness over the practices of several companies’ work here. God is working on my heart in this season – please pray for me as I process this.
Some of you might know that after my stint here I’ll be going back to the States to work with international students. The company I’ll be working with has sent in an application for an approval for me to legally work there. I should hear from them in 3-5 months. And if God closes that door, please pray that He will open other doors for me.
