“I am a great MISSIONARY!”
A long, uncomfortable silence followed the echoing declaration by one of our young local disciples, Roy. Not only did we have no idea what he was talking about, but that is a word we do not speak in this closed nation. We avoid it in whispers, but Roy was literally shouting it in the doorway of the apartment. Finally, one of our team members shuffled over and whispered, “What do you mean, Roy?”
Roy stepped to the side and revealed the hallway behind him. Standing there sheepishly were five of his friends he had brought to hear the gospel. A few days later Roy helped to lead one of his good friends, Kevin, to Christ. As this new disciple explained why he was choosing to follow Jesus, he told us of the tremendous changes in Roy's life. How he stopped drinking and smoking, how his whole life had been turned upside down. Kevin said, “I see how Jesus changed Roy, and I want that too.” Kevin went on to explain how there were 5 or 6 other friends of Roy who were interested in becoming Christians too because they saw Roy's transformed life.
You're right, Roy. You are a great missionary. (but don't shout it next time…)
